About Northbridge Collective Demo
At Northbridge Collective Demo, we are building the next generation of recruitment technology. Headquartered in Toronto, our mission is to empower organizations to build incredible teams through intuitive, data-driven hiring solutions. We believe that connecting the right people with the right opportunities changes lives and transforms businesses. To do this, we operate in a highly collaborative, fast-paced environment where every team member's contribution directly impacts our product and our customers.
We are currently seeking a motivated and analytically driven Finance Analyst Coop to join our team. At Northbridge Collective Demo, a co-op term isn't about fetching coffee or making copies—it is an immersive experience where you will tackle real business challenges, own meaningful projects, and gain hands-on experience in the financial operations of a growing technology company.
About the Role
As a Finance Analyst Coop, you will be an integral part of our strategic finance team. You will work closely with finance leaders and cross-functional department heads to analyze data, build forecasts, and drive insights that influence our business strategy. This role is designed for a curious, detail-oriented student who wants to understand how a SaaS business scales, how financial models are built from the ground up, and how data translates into actionable business decisions.
You will be fully integrated into our day-to-day operations, participating in team meetings, contributing to month-end processes, and presenting your findings to senior leadership. This is a full-time co-op position based out of our Toronto headquarters.
What You Will Do
- Financial Modeling & Forecasting: Assist in building, maintaining, and updating complex financial models to support budgeting, forecasting, and long-range planning.
- Variance Analysis: Support the month-end close process by comparing actual financial results against budgets and forecasts, identifying key drivers of variance.
- SaaS Metrics Tracking: Monitor and analyze critical business performance indicators, including Annual Recurring Revenue (ARR), Customer Acquisition Cost (CAC), Lifetime Value (LTV), and churn rates.
- Cross-Functional Partnership: Collaborate with Sales, Marketing, and Product teams to gather necessary data, understand spending patterns, and help department heads manage their budgets effectively.
- Reporting & Dashboards: Design and automate internal financial reports and dashboards to provide real-time visibility into company performance for the executive team.
- Process Improvement: Identify inefficiencies in current data collection or reporting workflows and propose scalable, automated solutions using Excel or internal financial systems.
- Ad-Hoc Strategic Analysis: Conduct market research, competitor analysis, and special project evaluations to support strategic initiatives and potential growth opportunities.
What You Will Bring
- Education: Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program in Business, Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a closely related field, with an available co-op or internship term.
- Technical Chops: Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (you should be comfortable with VLOOKUPs/XLOOKUPs, INDEX/MATCH, Pivot Tables, and logical formulas).
- Financial Acumen: A strong foundational understanding of accounting principles and how the three primary financial statements (Income Statement, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow Statement) interact.
- Analytical Thinking: A demonstrated ability to synthesize large datasets, spot trends, and draw logical, business-oriented conclusions.
- Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex financial concepts into clear, concise takeaways for non-finance stakeholders.
- Ownership Mindset: A proactive, self-starter attitude with a high degree of accuracy, organization, and attention to detail.
Nice to Have
- Previous co-op or internship experience in corporate finance, investment banking, accounting, or management consulting.
- Familiarity with financial software and ERP systems (e.g., NetSuite, QuickBooks) or CRM platforms (e.g., Salesforce).
- Experience with data visualization tools like Tableau, PowerBI, or Looker.
- A basic understanding of software-as-a-service (SaaS) business models and related revenue recognition concepts.
What We Offer
- Real-World Impact: The opportunity to do meaningful work that will actually be used by the executive team to make business decisions.
- Mentorship & Growth: Direct access to seasoned finance professionals who are committed to your learning, professional development, and career success.
- Inclusive Culture: A welcoming, collaborative, and diverse team environment where your ideas and perspectives are highly valued.
- Competitive Compensation: A fair and competitive co-op wage aligned with industry standards for finance students in the Toronto market.
- Networking Opportunities: Regular team events, lunch-and-learns, and the chance to build a professional network within the Toronto tech ecosystem.
