Trading Technology Intern
About the role
We're looking for a curious, self-directed intern to join our tech team.
You’ll work closely with our trading team on high-impact projects, building tools and dashboards
that improve execution efficiency and decision-making. This will involve API integrations, QA,
and both back-end and front-end development, while also supporting other departments in
optimizing their workflows and internal processes.
You’ll ship meaningful improvements using modern AI-assisted development tools, with a strong
focus on reliability and real-world performance. This role requires a high level of comfort building
with AI, from prototyping to production, and is best suited for candidates who already have
hands-on experience leveraging AI in development workflows. It’s a great opportunity to gain
end-to-end exposure to how a real fintech platform operates (Next.js, GraphQL, Hasura,
reconciliation logic), while deepening your experience with AI-driven development approaches
that are rapidly reshaping how software is built.
This role is primarily in-person at our Toronto office (Monday to Thursday; Friday WFH).
What you'll do
- Work on a high-impact, innovative project that is expected to unlock a new segment of
clients for SDM. - Integrate multiple APIs across trading platforms and banking partners, building data
pipelines that feed into our core systems and drive real-time decision-making - Work across our Next.js frontend, building new components, polishing existing flows,
and making sure the experience is solid before it ships - Test features end-to-end, proactively identifying edge cases and delivering clear,
reproducible bug reports - Collaborate directly with engineers to validate fixes, iterate quickly, and continuously
improve product quality - Leverage AI-assisted development tools (Claude Code, Cursor, v0, etc.) as part of your
daily workflow - Contribute to internal tooling and our growing library of AI-driven development workflows,
helping scale efficiency across teams - Support broader business units in optimizing processes and workflows through
thoughtful tooling and automation
