What Success Looks Like
Within your first 6 months as Kitchen Manager, you will run an efficient and motivated kitchen team that consistently delivers Monki’s signature dishes with speed and quality. You will have optimized inventory and labour costs while maintaining high food safety standards. Your leadership will contribute to a seamless guest experience, reflected in continued positive reviews and strong team morale.

Compensation & Benefits
Salary range — From 50,000$ annually, competitive and market-driven. Benefits include extended health care, life insurance, bonus/profit sharing, discounted or free staff meals, store discounts, on-site parking, and company events.

Work Location & Schedule
This is a full-time, in-person role based at 1420 9 Ave SE, Calgary, Alberta. Daytime shifts with weekend availability required. We have the best schedule in the industry, with the restaurant being open 8AM-3PM.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the back-of-house team by hiring, training, and coaching staff to maintain high standards.

  • Organize kitchen prep, conduct line checks, and manage expo during peak brunch service.

  • Ensure speed and consistency in preparing Monki’s signature dishes, maintaining plating and portioning standards.

  • Oversee ordering, inventory management, and waste reduction to meet or exceed food and labour targets.

  • Collaborate with front-of-house to coordinate service pace during busy weekend periods.

  • Maintain kitchen compliance with food safety regulations, including AHS Food Handler certification, sanitation, allergen control, and WHMIS practices.

  • Monitor temperature logs and ensure the kitchen is always inspection-ready.

Must-Have Qualifications

  • 3–5+ years of experience leading a high-volume kitchen as a Head Chef, Chef de Cuisine, or Kitchen Manager.

  • Calm, hands-on leadership style with clear communication skills in a fast-paced brunch environment.

  • Strong skills in cost control, inventory management, and staff scheduling.

  • Valid Food Handler certification recognized by Alberta Health Services (AHS).

  • Practical knowledge of WHMIS and food safety standards.

  • Availability for early mornings, weekends, and holidays.

Nice-to-Have / Bonus Skills

  • Experience working in a multi-location restaurant group.

  • Familiarity with POS systems and kitchen management software.

  • Passion for menu development and culinary innovation.

  • Ability to foster a positive, inclusive team culture.
