About Lighthouse UAT

At Lighthouse UAT, we are building the next generation of modern hiring tools and recruitment technology. Headquartered in Toronto, we are a fast-growing company dedicated to streamlining how organizations and candidates connect. We believe that the best software is built by agile, ambitious teams empowered by the latest tools. As we scale our platform, we are constantly pushing the boundaries of what modern product engineering looks like, integrating AI seamlessly into our daily workflows to build faster, smarter, and more efficiently.

About the Role

We are looking for a highly driven Product Engineer Intern to join our team for a full-time co-op or student work term. Located at our downtown Toronto office at 10 Dundas St E, this role is designed for a builder who wants to ship real product, not just fetch coffee or work on isolated sandbox projects. You will be fully integrated into our core engineering team, working on features that directly impact our users.

This is not your average internship. We are specifically looking for a go-getter who is already extremely well-versed in modern AI coding workflows—specifically Claude Code. You understand how to leverage AI to write, refactor, and debug software at lightning speed, allowing you to punch above your weight class and deliver senior-level output. If you have an entrepreneurial spirit, a track record of building software, and the ambition to grow rapidly alongside a scaling team, we want you here.

What You'll Do

  • Build and Ship Fast: Take ownership of end-to-end product features, from initial technical scoping through to deployment, ensuring a high-quality user experience.
  • Leverage Claude Code: Utilize Claude Code and other advanced AI-assisted engineering tools daily to accelerate your development cycles, automate boilerplate, and solve complex architectural challenges.
  • Collaborate on Product: Work closely with product managers, designers, and senior engineers to translate user needs into scalable, maintainable software.
  • Write Production-Ready Code: Contribute to our core codebase, writing clean, tested, and efficient code while adhering to our engineering standards.
  • Debug and Optimize: Troubleshoot production issues, optimize application performance, and proactively identify areas for technical improvement.
  • Participate in Code Reviews: Both review your peers' code and have your own code reviewed, fostering a culture of continuous learning and high technical standards.
  • Drive Momentum: Act as a catalyst on a growing team, bringing a sense of urgency, ambition, and innovative thinking to our daily stand-ups and sprint planning.

What You'll Bring

  • Student Status: You are currently enrolled in a recognized university or college co-op program, or are a student pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field, available for a full-time term.
  • AI-Assisted Engineering Mastery: You are exceptionally well-versed in using Claude Code. You know how to effectively prompt, iterate, and integrate AI into your CLI and IDE workflows to multiply your engineering output.
  • Proven Development Experience: You have built software before. Whether through previous internships, substantial open-source contributions, or complex personal projects, you know what it takes to take an idea to a deployed application.
  • Ambitious Mentality: You are a natural go-getter. You don't wait to be told exactly what to do; you seek out problems, propose solutions, and take the initiative to get things done.
  • Strong Problem-Solving Skills: You possess a deep curiosity for how things work and the persistence to debug complex issues across the stack.
  • Excellent Communication: You can articulate technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with modern, full-stack JavaScript/TypeScript ecosystems (e.g., React, Next.js, Node.js).
  • Familiarity with the recruitment technology, HR tech, or ATS (Applicant Tracking System) landscape.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, early-stage startup or high-growth tech environment.
  • Understanding of cloud infrastructure and modern deployment pipelines.

What We Offer

  • High-Impact Work: You will ship code to production and see the immediate impact of your work on our platform and users.
  • Prime Location: Work out of our vibrant, highly collaborative office located right at 10 Dundas St E in the heart of downtown Toronto.
  • Mentorship and Growth: Work alongside experienced engineers and product leaders who are invested in your technical and professional development.
  • Cutting-Edge Tooling: We provide the environment and the tech stack you need to experiment with the latest AI development paradigms.
  • Startup Culture: A flat, fast-moving, and supportive environment where great ideas win, regardless of your job title.
