About the Role
Camp Kirk is a supportive, neuro-affirming summer camp where kids take on challenges and conquer their fears. As our Canoe Tripping and High Ropes Instructor you lead our outdoor adventure program, from paddling lessons and overnight trips to the climbing and ropes elements.

Responsibilities
- Plan and lead canoe lessons, day trips and overnight tripping with small groups
- Run high ropes and climbing sessions and keep safety checks current
- Adapt activities so every camper can take part at their own pace
- Coach cabin counsellors on program safety and technique
- Inspect and care for canoes, ropes, harnesses and other gear
Requirements
- 18 years of age or older by the start of camp
- Experience paddling and leading groups outdoors
- Comfort working at height with ropes and climbing equipment
- Good judgment and a calm manner under pressure
Nice to Have
- Canoe tripping, lifeguard or paddling instructor certification
- High ropes, climbing or challenge course experience
- Wilderness First Aid, First Aid and CPR
- Ecology or outdoor education background
- Experience supporting neurodivergent children or youth
Location and Work Arrangement
On site at Camp Kirk in Kirkfield, Ontario, for the full summer season of about two and a half months, with overnight trips off site.
