About the Role
We build custom robotic welding cells, positioners and material handling equipment for manufacturers across North America. As a Robotics / Controls System Engineer you will own the controls side of a machine from first customer meeting to commissioning on the plant floor.
Responsibilities
- Work with the engineering group and the customer to define project requirements
- Coordinate with manufacturing and mechanical engineering to hit build and ship dates
- Implement control systems using IEC 61131-3 PLC languages and KUKA KRL robot programming
- Write and run test plans that prove the machine is reliable and safe
- Apply North American standards (CSA, NFPA 79, CSA Z432) to machine controls and electrical design
- Design and troubleshoot industrial networks
- Commission variable frequency drives (600V and below)
- Evaluate new technologies and bring the useful ones into our designs
Requirements
- Degree in Electrical, Computer or Mechatronics Engineering
- 5+ years of relevant industry experience
- Able to travel to and from the United States for commissioning
Nice to Have
- EtherCAT, EtherNet/IP, CANopen or Modbus experience
- Robot integration with KUKA, FANUC, ABB, Panasonic or Motoman
- EPLAN Electric P8
- European machine safety directives
- Windows system administration
Location & Work Arrangement
On site in Edmonton, AB, with travel to customer sites in Canada and the US.
Compensation
The salary range for this position is 95,000 to 125,000 CAD.
