About the Role
We are seeking a skilled and innovative Photonics Packaging Technologist to join our Research & Development team. In this role, you will play a key part in developing, prototyping, and optimizing advanced photonic packaging solutions for next-generation optical devices and systems. You will collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams to drive innovation and ensure the reliability and performance of photonic components.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and implement photonic packaging solutions for R&D projects.
- Prototype and test photonic assemblies, ensuring alignment, coupling efficiency, and thermal management.
- Collaborate with optical, mechanical, and electrical engineers to integrate photonic components into larger systems.
- Conduct failure analysis and reliability testing of packaged photonic devices.
- Document processes, results, and best practices for knowledge sharing and future reference.
- Stay current with advancements in photonic packaging technologies and recommend improvements.
Requirements
- Proven experience in photonics packaging, assembly, or related R&D roles.
- Strong understanding of photonic device integration, fiber alignment, and coupling techniques.
- Hands-on experience with prototyping, testing, and troubleshooting photonic assemblies.
- Familiarity with optical, mechanical, and thermal considerations in photonic packaging.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and documentation abilities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with advanced packaging methods such as flip-chip, wafer-level, or hybrid integration.
- Background in reliability testing and failure analysis of photonic devices.
- Proficiency with CAD tools for mechanical design and simulation.
- Advanced degree in photonics, optics, materials science, or a related field.
