Job description:
About Us
Century Audio Visual is an AV solutions provider with a diverse team of highly qualified,
service-oriented professionals. Our mission is to deliver fully functional, cost-effective
AV solutions, focusing on simplicity and an effortless user experience. We serve clients
throughout the Greater Toronto Area and beyond.
Position Overview
We are looking for an experienced AV Field Engineer and Service Lead who can take
ownership of both simple and complex service issues, advanced technical tasks,
system configuration and commissioning support. This is a senior technical role
designed to relieve the leadership team from day-to-day technical escalations and
system setup.
This is not an entry level service technician or IT support role.
We require someone who already understands commercial AV systems and can work
independently without supervision.
You will support field technicians, solve technical problems, configure systems before
deployment, assist with commissioning tasks and manage service activities. The ideal
candidate is currently working as a field engineer, senior service technician,
commissioning technician or lead installer.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Leadership and Field Support

  • Act as the senior technical resource for field teams and service requests
  • Support technicians both remotely and on-site when they encounter issues
  • Resolve simple issues quickly and manage complex problems thoroughly
  • Reduce the need for leadership involvement by handling escalations directly
  • Provide guidance and technical mentorship to less experienced technicians
    System Staging and Configuration
  • Prepare systems for installation including device configuration and testing
  • Configure control processors and DSP units
  • Stage equipment, label components, dress cabling and verify all functionality
  • Validate racks and systems prior to deployment
    Commissioning Support
  • Assist with system commissioning tasks such as loading control programs, tuning
    audio and validating system performance
  • Review schematics and elevations and ensure field work matches project
    documentation
  • Test and verify all system functionality prior to handover
    Service Coordination and Troubleshooting
  • Manage and coordinate service calls and ticket assignments
  • Diagnose and repair both simple faults and complex system problems
  • Perform firmware updates, device resets, component replacements and detailed
    diagnostics
  • Communicate solutions clearly to clients and internal teams
  • Maintain accurate notes, logs and service documentation
    Technical Duties
  • Install, test and maintain commercial AV systems
  • Work with AV devices that rely on networks including PoE powered devices and
    basic VLAN concepts
  • Verify compatibility, update firmware and ensure stable system operation
  • Read and interpret schematics, floor plans and rack drawings
  • Maintain service tools, spare parts and spare equipment inventory.
    Installation and Tooling Tasks
  • Perform new terminations and re-terminations of AV and low-voltage wiring
  • Use hand tools and termination tools safely and correctly
  • Dress, organize and secure cabling for clean and reliable installations
  • Assist with hardware mounting, device placement and physical installation tasks
  • Verify wiring integrity, continuity and proper polarity during service or
    commissioning
  • Support technicians with hands-on field work when required
    Required Qualifications
  • AVIXA CTS certification
  • 5 or more years of commercial AV experience in installation, service or field
    engineering
  • Strong understanding of audio, video and control signal flow
  • Experience with Crestron, Extron, Biamp, Q-SYS or similar platforms
  • Ability to commission systems and configure DSP and control devices
  • Strong troubleshooting skills for both simple and complex issues
  • Comfortable working at heights using ladders or lifts
  • Able to lift 50 pounds when needed
  • Valid G-class driver license with a clean abstract (Must be 25 or older for
    insurance requirements)
  • Professional communication skills and the ability to work directly with clients
  • Able to work independently and make technical decisions without oversight
  • Strong organization and attention to detail
    Preferred Qualifications
  • AVIXA CTS-I or CTS-D
  • Crestron, Extron, Biamp or Q-SYS manufacturer training
  • Experience creating service reports, logs and commissioning documentation
  • Familiarity with structured cabling and termination standards
    What We Offer
  • Compensation based on experience and technical ability. Strong candidates with
advanced skills will be compensated accordingly.
  • Opportunities for performance incentives
  • Health, dental, vision, life and disability insurance
  • Paid vacation, training support and certification assistance
  • Company vehicle access for eligible field technicians
  • A supportive and collaborative team environment with opportunities for growth
